About
Every leader
has a story.
Let’s make it count.
Once upon a Legacy was created to help leaders like you step into your story, lead with intention, and build a legacy that inspired.

MY STORY
Hi, I’m Emily
Long before I studied leadership, I studied stories.
My original path was editor and writer—driven by a deep fascination with the human experience. Literature taught me early on that everyone sees the world through a distinct lens, and the stories we carry define who we become. I just didn’t expect those same insights to follow me into the workplace.
During my time in nonprofit leadership and later while earning my Master’s in Strategic & Organizational Leadership, I kept running into the same frustrating puzzle: Why do good organizations full of good people still struggle?
Leaders were working overtime. Employees cared deeply. The mission truly mattered. Yet people were still burning out, feeling unheard, and losing connection to work they once loved.
The deeper I dove into organizational systems, the clearer the answer became:
Most workplace problems aren’t caused by bad people or bad intentions. They are built on subtle, daily friction.
It’s the vague expectation, the missed moment to listen, or the clunky process that makes meaningful work harder than it needs to be. Over time, these daily friction points compound into internal narratives—narratives that ultimately dictate trust, morale, performance, and the legacy a leader leaves behind.
That’s why I created Once Upon a Legacy Leadership.
I believe leaders should never have to choose between driving real results and treating people with basic humanity. My mission is to help you cultivate a workplace where people feel heard, trusted, and genuinely proud of what they do. Because work doesn’t stop at 5 PM—people carry those daily experiences home into their confidence, their families, and the stories they tell for years to come.
Leadership isn’t just about what we accomplish on paper. It’s about the story people tell because they worked with us.

WHAT I BELIEVE
Leadership is a story we write every day.

PEOPLE EXPERIENCE MOMENTS NOT ORGANIZATIONS
Your story shapes how you lead and the impact you create.

REAPEATED EXPERINCES BECOME STORIES
Clarity, values, and purpose are the foundation of meaningful leadership.

STORIES SHAPE WORKPLACE OUTCOMES
Strong relationships and trust drive engaged teams and lasting results

LEADERSHIP SHAPES THOSE EXPERIENCES
Small, consistent choices today create the legacy you’ll be remembered for tomorrow.

The stories we tell ourselves become the way we lead – and the legacy we leave.
